WHG (International) LTD
The William Hill Group (WHG) is perhaps one of the oldest casino franchises in the world. With bases in the UK, Gibraltar, and the Republic of Ireland, WHG International employs thousands of staff and serves hundreds of thousands of players, easily minting millions in profits. Naturally, most of the casinos (and betting houses) under the franchise are land casinos, some of which were established decades ago. Nonetheless, there are a number of online casinos established over the last few years and which have turned WHG into an international franchise.
Simply put, these online casinos put the ‘international’ in WHG International. To make it clear, William Hill Inc. is not simply a gambling enterprise but a bookmarker with an interest in professional sports and almost every other type of event. Currently, none of the betting sites and casinos under the company accept US players.
Regulation / licensed
William Hill International is based in the London and is consequently regulated by the UK Gambling Commission. However, in a move that caused some controversy, the company moved its online casino franchise to Gibraltar in 2009. The reason for this was to avoid the heavy taxes charged on betting companies in the UK. In Gibraltar, the company’s online brands are regulated and licensed by the Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association. With regulation comes strict supervision and regular tests to determine whether the software used by the casinos meet the fairness requirements. There has not been a scandal or controversy on this end and thus it is safe to assume that all WHG brands comply with the game rules. Thus, players are assured that results are only determined by a Random Number Generator which the ‘house’ has no direct control of.
The Casinos
There are quite a number of brands under William Hill International, both land and online casinos. Some of these are located in the UK and others in the internet gambling haven of Gibraltar. Notable William Hill brands include 21 Nova, EuroGrand, SkyKings, Joyland Casino and Prestige Casino. ( SkyKings, Prestige Casino and Joyland Casino have now merged with William Hill ), While WHG is known for sports betting, the new online casinos have moved away from that and into more modern casino games, which are equally popular. These include table games, slot machines and video poker and appeal to both sport lovers and non-lovers alike. The company’s partnership with Playtech – one of the earliest developers of casino games, and who have quite a number of games on their portfolio, brings about diversity and quite some options to choose from. Add that to the fact that the WHG casinos offer instant play games, with instant payouts and you get to understand why the company has been around for as long as it has been.
The Bonuses
Basically all casinos in the WHG Group give first-time players welcome bonuses and even first deposit bonuses. This is a way to give them a head start and thereby increase their interest in the games. Depending on the casino, there are also a wide range of other bonuses which players can get, not forgetting the regular promotions which carry great prizes.
Rewards Program
WHG casino brands run rewards programs with different terms depending on the specific casino. Overall, the concept is the same. Players earn loyalty (comp) points for every bet placed with some games giving more points per dollar/pound wagered. Also, some casinos may double the loyalty points one gets in a game as part of promotions. In some casinos, the number of points depends on the type of account, with holders of the more premium accounts getting more points. Whatever the case, the comp points are redeemable for cash and/or free spins later on when they get to the set thresholds. This is one way of earning some extra wagering cash, which increases winning chances.
